The Axe Effect

A friend shared with me this article: http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_3542183.html. I found it hilarious. People of this world are so dumb. Enjoy.

Work

Why is it we still have to go to work only to sit around and do nothing? I get that I am intern but when I have nothing to do at work I would rather be at home or doing my homework. C'mon now. People should just tell us to stay home if work is going to be so slow. I like being busy. If you can't give me something to do, just let me go home. Think about it for next time.

Sleep Talking

Confession, I am a sleep talker. Anyone who has ever slept in the same room as me knows this. Last night was no different. I woke myself and my roommate up in the middle of the night saying, "Get the f*** away from my bag." I think sleep disorders are interesting.

Sleep talking, formally known as somniloquy, is a sleep disorder defined as talking during sleep without being aware of it. Sleep talking can involve complicated dialogues or monologues, complete gibberish or mumbling. The good news is that for most people it is a rare and short-lived occurrence. Anyone can experience sleep talking, but the condition is more common in males and children.

Sleep-talkers are not typically aware of their behaviors or speech; therefore their voices and the type of language they use may sound different from their wakeful speech. Sleep talking may be spontaneous or induced by conversation with the sleeper.

Sleep talking may be brought on by stress, depression, fever, sleep deprivation, day-time drowsiness, alcohol, and fever. In many instances sleep talking runs in families, although external factors seem to stimulate the behavior. Sleep talking often occurs concurently with other sleep disorders such as sleep terrors, confusional arousals, obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, and REM sleep behavior disorder. In rare cases, adult-onset frequent sleep-talking is associated with a psychiatric disorder or nocturnal seizures. Sleep talking associated with mental or medical illness occurs more commonly in persons over 25 years of age.

Little is known about the content of the sleep talking: some talking makes no sense at all and some of it may relate to past events, experiences, and relationships that no longer have current relevance or emotional impact. Modern sleep science and the law accept that sleep talking is not a product of a conscious or rational mind and is therefore usually inadmissible in court.

Although not physically harmful, sleep talking can cause embarrassment and can annoy a bed partner, roommate, or be disruptive in group-sleeping situations. Because of this, sleep talkers are sometimes afraid to sleep away from home and can cause insomnia in a person sleeping nearby.

People Watching

Today was a beautiful day in Washington, DC and a few of my friends decided to go to Adams Morgan to one of my favorite restaurants Open City. My friends made comments about what people are wearing- I do this in my mind all the time. The comment was made that when we do this it is judgment. However, why then does that women on What Not to Wear. Also I think people could benefit from friends telling them about fashion. Some people just don't know what to wear.

Also to make a comment about texting. Maryland just made a law that texting while driving will cause you to get a $500 ticket. So be forewarned. Also talking on your cell phone in the District will also get you a ticket.

Complaint of people giving me not advanced warning. If you want me to do something and do a good job at this thing please out of the kindness of your heart give me more than the night before. I need to time to practice.

Biker Rant 2

Today I saw someone riding a bike in Farraget North who was texting while navigating traffic. Really, come on!

Gas, Statues, and Bikers

Just say no to passing gas in public spaces. I don't get it, hold it in or go to the bathroom. Don't make everyone suffer. Like in crowded classes, basketball games, or in the car. Sure if you are outside, let it rip.

Today I as on a walk and I saw a yard with a ton of statue, it just looked tacky, they didn't even match. I did have a memory of being at the Garden of Eden in Lucas, KS where there is a ton of weird statues that do not look like they belong in someone's back yard. Check it out at: http://www.legendsofamerica.com/KS-Lucas.html. I recommend it for church youth groups, that is how I got to see this Kansas wonder.

Another rant- Bikers. As a person who would say I love the Earth, and like that people use bikes to save gas. However, obey the laws. Stop at lights, don't weave in and out of cars, and do not ride on the sidewalk. I would love you bikers if you follow the laws. So do it please.

Raw Meat

So I have decided to use this blog again because I can be more random and tell vent things about my strange circumstances of life.

I just moved to my own apartment, once again I can cook my own food. I love it! So because I have been cooking and not going out I have been saving money. I also now have a connection to cooking that I can share with my brother. Yesterday I called him and we had a 15 minute converstation. Thumbs up!

Today in class my professor said, "Let's get our juices flowing." Honestly do people think about what they are saying because people like me with dirty minds need help and have to chuckle a little bit in the back.

So today before class I decided to marinate some chicken for later. However what I once again discovered that I hate the sliminess of raw meat. Don't get me wrong I have grown up with raw meat but touching it is another thing. I have no problem with killing animals for food (hello I am from Kansas) the beef capital of the world! When I grew up we used to pay the butcher to slaughter our own whole cow. Still raw meat is kind of gross.
